MORGANS HOTEL GROUP ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF HUDSON HALL
Hudson Hall Serves Up a Stylish Dining Experience in New York's Hudson
NEW YORK (10th June 2010) - Morgans Hotel Group today opens Hudson Hall, a new stylish drinking and dining destination located in New York's iconic Hudson. Hudson Hall is a modern, collegiate mess hall that allows guests to craft their meal through the selection of small plates created predominantly from premium sustainable-organic products, indigenous to the New York-Hudson Valley area.
Created by Chef Brian Young, the menu at Hudson Hall will highlight unique products and ingredients that are seasonal in nature and provided by the region's most storied and sustainable farms. A Cordon Bleu graduate, Young has incorporated international flavors and techniques focused on these ingredients which are organic and regional wherever possible. Having trained with Eric Ripert at Le Bernardin, as Chef de Cuisine under Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, and having been Executive Chef at Pop, Citarella, and most recently Tavern on the Green, Young brings an exceptional culinary pedigree to Hudson Hall.
"Hudson Hall is a social restaurant and bar experience where guests serve themselves and are encouraged to be themselves," said Howard Wein of Morgans Hotel Group. "The quality of our food and drinks will drive the interactive experience set in yet another world class designed space. Hudson Hall is the perfect complement to the array of popular entertainment destinations at this storied hotel."
Located in the space previously occupied by Hudson Cafeteria, Hudson Hall's playful and stylish interiors, designed by Studio Arne Quinze, in collaboration with Morgans' design team, are reminiscent of an Ivy League mess hall with long, wooden communal tables with a rustic black finish, contrasting with red brick walls. A white wooden framed video installation; created by artist Arne Quinze, displays rotations of academic imagery.
Hudson Hall's cuisine is served on Harry Allen Design's custom-made cafeteria-style trays by staff wearing edgy, collegiate-inspired uniforms featuring black and white stripes. Guests can build their meals with signature menu items such as the Peeky Toe Crab Salad Sandwich, Amish Chicken Confit Casserole, or the Heirloom Spinach Salad with crystal greens, Old Chatham bleu cheese, candied Marcona almonds, and Russian dried berries. As a nod to traditional mess hall dishes, Hudson Hall will also include Hudson Sliders, made of dry-aged Waygu of Beef with Cabot clothbound cheddar, and Margherita Flat Bread.
Hudson Hall's cocktail list will be a contemporary interpretation of the quintessential college "shot list" with kamikazes, lemon drops and woo-woos all served as shots, cocktails and pitchers. Featuring fresh organic juices and modern boutique spirits, the list was created by Morgans Hotel Group's resident mixologist, John Lermayer. The house wine program will feature red, white and prosecco all of which will be bottled in house and served by the glass, half bottle, bottle or magnum. In keeping with the university based roots of the concept, the beer list will be comprised solely of canned varietals and span the entire range of styles from domestic lagers to regionally produced organic microbrews.
Hudson Hall, located at 356 West 58th Street at Hudson New York, will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
